Epsilon Eridani is a planetary system orbiting Epsilon Eridani, a K2V ☼ star in the Eridanus constellation of the Inner/Sol Region.
Epsilon Eridani Epsilon Eridani is a planetary system orbiting a orange K-class star. The system lies in the Eridanus Constellation of the Inner/Sol Region. Epsilon Eridani lies only 10.5 light years from Earth, despite its close distance for eons robotic probes were the only explorers of the system.
The Epsilon Eridani planets are made up of ices and gasses, they lack the valuable minerals and metals that other systems contain. There also isn't any planets with a habitable atmosphere, or even any planets that could be easily terraformed over a short period of time.
These factors left Epilson Eridani far down the list of colonizable systems. A few small scientific outposts were eventually established on the moons of Epsilon Eridani B. Though permanent residents were rare, most were based on Earth and would travel to Epsilon Eridani on multi year rotations.
