Northsun is a planetary system orbiting TYC407013651, a K0V star located in the Camelopardalis constellation of the Segin Region.
Northsun is best known for its primary planet, a vast desert world once selected for an ambitious regional terraforming program. Early planners believed the planet could become a strategic settlement hub, but the project quickly became a symbol of the risks involved in reshaping a marginal world.
Atmosphere factories were constructed across the planet to thicken the air and raise oxygen levels, but escalating costs, difficult logistics, and relentless wind erosion eventually halted the effort. The unfinished facilities remain scattered across the desert, half-buried beneath drifting sand and dust.
The few permanent settlements on Northsun B survive inside sealed cities and hardened industrial compounds. Warm winds move constantly across the surface, battering walls, transport lines, and abandoned terraforming sites while limiting open-air expansion.
Today, Northsun endures as a remote frontier system rather than the thriving colony its founders imagined. Its desert world, outer gas giant, and frozen fringe planet make the system valuable for survey work, historical study, and limited industrial operations, but its failed terraforming legacy still defines its place in the Segin Region.
