Rama orbits HD 109280, a steady G-class star in the Canes Venatici constellation of the Izar Region. The system has no garden world, but its position, mineral wealth, and deep-space infrastructure have made it a valuable industrial stop along regional trade routes.
Rama's wealth is concentrated beyond its two harsh terrestrial planets: a dense inner asteroid belt rich in valuable metals and rare industrial minerals, followed by distant comet fields that supply volatiles, reaction mass, and raw ice for orbital processing. Most permanent activity is tied to extraction, refinement, cargo transfer, and maintenance rather than traditional settlement.
The inner planets are inhospitable but useful. Rama B is a scorched, blue-hazed desert world with a small enclosed nightside colony, while Rama C is a dry iron-rich planet with a thin carbon dioxide atmosphere and only marginal temperature bands where liquid water would be possible under greater pressure.
Its colonies function as hardened support nodes for the wider mining network: crew rotation centers, survey outposts, emergency shelters, and administrative anchors for operations spread across the belt and outer system.
