The islands are extremely rocky and contain very little vegetation, they are often bombarded by intense storms and wind. These conditions make Ryron impossible for any large scale colonization. Despite the ferocious conditions on the surface of the water across the planet, a surprisingly diverse ecosystem exists under the water.
The planet's limited population mostly consists of scientists who study the underwater life.
