Maze is a planetary system orbiting a yellow-orange K-class star in the Capricornus constellation of the Capricorn Region.
Maze was founded by emancipated slaves fleeing the nearby world of Sentinel. For generations, slavery remained deeply entrenched on Sentinel, making it one of the region’s most notorious slave-holding civilizations. Growing opposition eventually erupted into open conflict as neighboring powers intervened to end the slave trade.
The brief but decisive Sentinel Liberation War ended in the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of millions. While many former slaves integrated into other societies, a large number chose to establish a new beginning in the Maze system, where they could build a civilization free from the oppression they had endured.
Over the centuries, Maze became a powerful symbol of liberty, self-determination, and human rights. Memorials, museums, and annual Liberation Day observances preserve the history of the struggle and honor those who fought for freedom.
Today, Maze remains one of the strongest political and moral voices against slavery, forced labor, and human trafficking throughout explored space. Its inhabited jungle world stands as both the cultural heart of the system and a living monument to survival and renewal.
